South-South Investments - Investing in a Better World, January 2011
An emerging trend in foreign direct investment (FDI) is the rise of private investments from one developing county to another. “South-South Investments” help to create wealth and innovation, which in turn contributes to a sustainable development and poverty reduction. This kind of cooperation also plays a significant role in the fight against climate change. Many developing countries are introducing feed in tariff mechanisms supporting renewable energy and energy efficiency projects attracting investors from the developing world. The expansion of South-South investment promises great opportunities, but also needs a structured approach and well established networks.
